This is who I am.

Words echo with my spoken voice
Letters stand for my silent thoughts
my heart beats in what I write
Every character is somewhat like me
Or they are what I wish to be.

Ideas explode onto paper-fireworks of symbols
Emotions leak into the bleeding ink as I feel them
Born a writer its why I think the way I do
Listening to every voice because everyone has a story
Staying true to the convictions that define me-don’t know how else to be

I can be the most serious person – I fight so hard for what I believe
My friends get sick of me reminding them not to say certain things
Frustrating because there are too many things I can’t change
Hate feeling hopeless knowing there are causes with no one to fight for them
Never afraid to stand up for what I think-strong when it means defending someone else

A friend who knows me better than I know myself says I wouldn’t ever give up who I am
Being myself is all I’ve got- I’ve never been able to make myself keep up a different act
Every façade that shatters like breaking glass is broken by the strength of who I am
Tears that fell for the loss of someone I loved marked one more obstacle I overcame
Being pushed down only gave me the drive to not break and stand without falling

Being on the beings we call horses and feeling the adrenaline surge through my veins
Moving in tandem with the power of feet pounding their mark into the dust-sets me free
Connected to that wild power when we run is everything I need to be home
Freedom calls and in my pounding heartbeat I answer – my heart lifts up and I fly
My world is perfect when I ride-our history imprints in running hoof beats into the sand. 8

I grew up jumping over waves and falling in the dry sand –my childhood summers
Never had the patience to stay inside if I could be outside lying in the grass
I ran around barefoot till I was seven- making water slides out of play structures
I was the wild child who refused to brush her hair or come inside till it was dark
The little girl whose spirit reached out for the raindrops etching designs on the windowpanes

I’m the girl who dances in the rain, eyes shining and completely alive
Living each day to the fullest I know how easy life can be taken away
Being hurt has made someone who doesn’t like being vulnerable
I don’t trust easily- I’ve been the girl trying to need only herself
I’m so close to the ones I love because we’ve been through everything and are still standing strong

I can’t be just a label- there has to be so much more
Not a stereotype- I’m unique and the only me
Learning from everything that’s happened means moving forward-one step at a time
In the end- events that shaped my life and made me cry will make stronger
Each day is made up by shards of time defining the person I am now and will be tomorrow

Writer-barefoot wild child- fighter-Horseback rider- wave jumper- all of that is me
I wouldn’t be who I am without the struggles I fought to overcome
Loving to talk is one of those things that could be a strength or a fault
Facing life head on means getting up when trying to fly pushes you to the ground
Staying true to the feelings that ring true deep within my soul describes me

I've lived in Italy- I've lived in California- I've been to Mexico- England- Switzerland. I love the ocean- I grew up around it and I know how powerful it is- I'm terrified of it at times. I love lakes and forrests and meadows. I also love the snow- and being warm and cozy while watching it fall outside my window .I dance in the rain- its a metaphor for m e in so many ways. I love storms but I also love right after it and going out into the world. I love the heat and having nothing to do in summer.
