Modest Mouse
Trailer Trash
Eating snow flakes with plastic forks
And a paper plate of course
you think of everything
Short love with a long divorce
And a couple of kids of course
They don't mean anything
Live in trailers with no class
goddamn I hope I can pass
high school means nothing
Taking heartache with hard work
Goddamn I am such a jerk
I can't do anything
And I shout that you're all fakes
And you should have seen the look on your face
And I guess that's what it takes
When comparing your bellyaches
And it's been a long time
Which agrees with this watch of mine
And I know that I miss you
And I'm sorry that I dissed you
Who the hell cares anyways
I'm bleeding internally
Your strikes have deminished
all my lost faith
and if you think I can carry on
You are fucking wrong

The Moon Landing
They tell me the moon
has ceased to be mysterious
But what mystery did it ever
present to him? how many
of them ever even looked at it?
Be honest. Were you ever once
afraid of moonlight,
of what you felt it doing to
your genitals, your spine,
the hair at the back
of your neck?
Were you ever tempted
to bathe naked in it, rolling
in the grass?
When you realized men
were about to land there
was there a moment
when you were frightened
of what might happen
when they touched?
Did you laugh at yourself
childishly wondering
if it would explode
and fragments of it
rain on our earth
while terrible things
happened to the tides?
And if the answer is
"yes," did anythign change for you
when they told you such emotions
were no longer the fashion?
Their rockets changed nothing.
The moon is mysterious
still to those who have been alone with her

Symphony on February 8, 2006I just wanted to say an amazing thank you for the reply you wrote on my poem Repeat the Past - replies like that do mean a lot to me because it feels like you reached into the poem and took away more than just the words with you, which is, after all, why we write isn't it? ...
for you! -
