"Fun" Facts:
♥ Ten vegetarians can live on the land that would only support ONE meat-eater. This is, of course, taking into consideration that all of the animals (chickens, pigs, cattle) are treated humanely and are in living conditions that are appropriate for optimal health; opposed to the process and state of living of such animals in the modern day slaughterhouses.
♥ If you put a McDonalds burger in a ziplock and keep it in the fridge for a month, it will look the same as it did the day you got it when you look at it again. If you do that to organic burgers and fries from Whole Foods or other more natural source, it won't last much more than a few days.
♥ Most animals who are slaughtered are still conscious up until their time of death. Death is most frequently the result of bleeding out, while hanging upside down. Take note of the fact that for cattle, this is usually after they have been skinned and have had their legs removed.
♥ There are slaughterhouses in the U.S. for horses, some of which are stolen. The meat is USUALLY exported to Europe, as it is a popular delicacy over there. However, it is sometimes passed off as beef on the west coast.
♥ Pigs have the intelligence of dogs. Chickens have been proven to possess intelligence that is either equal to or superior to that of a human infant. Cattle have such strong bonds with their offspring that they can travel more than 300 miles to reunite themselves with their young, even if they've never seen anything outside of their own housing. If you're not going to kill a dog, why kill a pig, chicken, or cow?
♥ There was a group of whales during the 1800's called the Killers of Eden. The term "Killer Whale" was coined from "Whale Killer." The Orca has been often called the "King of the Sea" for it appears that they eat everything. These killer whales helped humans in Eden kill large whales such as the Baleen. The understanding that seemed to exist between the killer whales and the residents of Eden was that the whale carcasses would be left in the water overnight so that the orcas could eat the dead whale's tongue. However, after the betrayal of the Eden residents and the death of the orca pod, the bond was forever lost.
♥ An octopus has the intelligence of the average house cat. And we all know (don't we?) that cats are very intelligent.
♥ Slaughterhouses not only violate animal rights, but also human rights. Most slaughterhouse workers are not even given bathroom breaks. They are either supplied the equivalent of adult diapers, or must simply do their business on the work floor. When the latter happens, if meat carcasses fall off the conveyer belt and onto the floor with all this shit (both animal and human), it is not cleaned---instead it is picked up and put back on the belt. Also, the majority of slaughterhouse workers are ABUSIVE to their partners, spouses and/or children. This is due to the mental drain and the frequent realization that the gap between "animal" and man is not quite so large after all.
♥ 70.8% of all meat material contains fecal material. If you are a meat consumer, you are literally eating shit.
♥ The Galapagos Islands are also called the Darwin Islands. If the illegal fishing is not stopped, the amazing amounts of ocean life that live there will die.
♥ Norway and Japan are the only places in which whaling is still legal and regularly practiced. This will probably result in the extinction of many --- if not all --- whales if drastic changes are not adapted. They shall perish.
