I have this page mostly so I can comment on my daughter's poems, but she pointed out that I had, indeed, written poetry. I call them songs. They ARE songs! So I guess I'll post my songs. My daughter is iamlost here on All Poetry.
A bit of warning, here. These songs were written either for the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), which is a medieval re-creation society, or as science fiction songs, called 'filk.' 'Filk' actually has several connotations, one of which is to 'filk' another song (i.e., parody it) by writing new words to someone else's tune. I therefore have 'filk' in my SCA songs as well as my songs from science fiction and fantasy. Okay, confused now?
I am (among other things) a bard in the SCA, which is why my username is "Welshbard." Since my persona (the person I would have been in the middle ages) is a 15th century Welsh woman, that's the Welsh part of it. My SCA name is Rhonwen y Llysieuyddes ('y llysieuyddes' means 'the herbalist,' as I was a botany major and enjoyed studying herbs).
I'm actually a fiction writer. Surprisingly (not) I write science fiction and fantasy. I am a stickler for grammar, punctuation, and spelling, so if you ever find any typos in my works, please let me know!
My AP family consists of my daughters iamlost and rukia-neesan, my niece squirrelgirl, and my nephew Tyto.

iamlost : Green is your favorite color. . . . on February 9Ah, so you were in my contest!
It's so interesting to have it be anonymous. And I completely agree with your below statement, I thought the same thing when I saw that! -
Welshbard : I don't agree with this on January 16The message of the day says, "A sold poem loses half its meaning." ~ Glade Byron Addams
I think this is the old "starve for your muse" sentiment, and I don't agree. If you're a good writer of any sort, you should be able to sell your writing, get it out into the world, let as many others as possible see it. Unless you are just writing for yourself (and if so, why are you posting it on AllPoetry?), there's no point in NOT trying to sell your work. Wouldn't you rather support yourself doing something you love, like writing, rather than something that you don't love, like whatever your day job is?
Of course, I'm a published writer of prose, so I'm not sure how people who are purely poets feel about this. But I do know that I'd prefer to get money for my work than not!
End of rant. -
iamlost on January 4Yay! I'm so awesome. And you know you're enjoying it.
Especially all the backgrounds I make for you.
