It's not the best stuff you will ever read, but I have one philosophy when it comes to poetry. If it is from the heart, it doesn't really matter how good it is or how it measures up to poetic rule. You see, poetry will die with the wind just like everything else in this world, but the sincerity within a poem may just be something that could change a person's life forever. Sometimes a goof poem is fun to write, but again, if it comes from the heart, does it really matter if fits into any given poetic format?

Warrior for God on September 16, 2005So, here we go, first, I want to say that I respect the art form of poetry on every level, and I did not mean to be offensive. Next, I did not write anything about the beauty of poetry in us being "God's children" on my author page, meaning you must have read it somewhere else in all that I have written. I agree, on a higher level of thinking, it is all subjective. As for analysis of usage of techniques to more aptly convey a (good) poetic techniques. To me, on that same higher level of thinking, technique is all subjective also, but in honest opinion, I agree that technique and form does make poetry "better" a lot of times. What does poetry have to do with God? I can use it to worship Him. I agree poetry is not all based on God, or have you not read my poetry? Just make sure you get a closer look at what I believe before you come off as harshly as you did. That kinda hurt. I do not go around telling people that their poetic philosophies are wrong, nor do I look at other people poetry and tell them I do not want to see it anymore. I just don't look at it. I honor and respect your opinion. People can have differed opinions, and that is what makes us unique. I hope you have a good night, and I encourage you to continue writing.

Cyan314 on September 16, 2005I really don't see how the beauty of poetry has anything to do with us being "god's children"; why does everything have to become theological? The simple fact is that no person can say what is good or bad poetry beause it is all subjective... We can only analyze the useage of different techniques. The more aptly one conveyes thier message, the "better" a poem generally tends to be. As long as it means something to you, sure, it passes. Dosen't make it good or bad, but it's out there. So what in the world does this have to do with god? I take offense to the idea that my art exists as nothing but an offering to an idea worshipped by only part of humanity. With all due respect, cannot our poetry mean something in the here and now, to the people around us, without also serving the purpose of a gift to some unproven entity?
