I've learned you really can't go home again.

You can't take back your growth, just as others can't take back theirs. Which leads to pain and to joy as we grow together. Sometimes, however, we grow together separately.

To be a Christian means to live with constant longing; a longing for the only true home that we will ever know- a home that we have captured in glimpses and shadows in the lives of those friends with whom we are bound in Christ.

What makes it all worthwhile is that I have tried to follow the feet of God, knowing that to touch a life, however transient it may seem, is to begin an eternal relationship. Just as those new faces have joined with the old to shape my life, offering even more input than I into this "Jeremy" creature, so they continue to shape my thoughts and prayers.

I mourn those who are far away, either in this world or those who have crossed the Border to the other side of the sea, but they are not lost. They are only absent. Nothing of any real value is truly able to perish forever.

We shall meet again.

Old friends, new friends, and future friends:

Welcome to my thoughts.

Jeremy... welcome back to Canada eh! I know a little of your experience in returning... I was away for only 8 months, but even that creates a separation. I also leave behind new friends that I found there: in church, in the local CMA chapter, at work. But then, that's my life it seems... to be here and there without roots.

I am glad you can spend more time with Sarah and Jeremy... et al.

Take care my friend... and if you ever want to visit Calgary... I have a spare room!

    Unk Bruce
