Titan in the Sky
He stood beneath its frame as a faint shadow lingering in the passing day and laughed. It was to be the Titan. The monument to all he had achieved in his life now laid to rest through the steel and rivets in this hollowed womb of the earth. No man shall ever touch this, he thought to himself, or me.
His hand had lingered idly along the cold steel beams beneath it as he turned to Carl, his construction manager, and pointed to the growing darkness in the sky. Carl shook his head in reply. They would have to make haste.
“Will they endanger the construction?” he began to ask, but he did not speak. He saw what his man had turned to see.
Many had come to see it with eyes full of wonder. They were like broken shells in a sea gathering upon his shore. Those glistening beads were all there was beneath the ashen skyline as he turned to a young boy who called his name.
“There’s someone to here to see you,” the boy cried through din, his hands raised over his mouth. Beyond, the men were sealing the beams with steady hands. He could not respond. She should not have come.
“Why?” she had whispered to him, her face pale beneath the sky. Yet she knew he would not reply. In the distance, she had seen red petals drifting away. It was Fall.
No man shall ever touch him, she thought to herself, but the earth and the sky. She placed a rose in his hands.
“Goodbye.”

Wrestle me from this moonlight mist
bound beneath a gentle sky, as it -
So I remain; lost among its’ brevity,
longing for more.
