I'm starting to build up a theory here.
Bear with me.
There is no America.
Every time you turn on the TV and see what's going on in the rest of the world, when it gets to the USA, they make up something that's so horrendous that it makes all the rest of us feel better with what we have.
"Yeah, the NHS is running out of money... but look at America, they have to pay for their health service... Bet you feel silly now..."
Think of it like the Truman show, all the American people you see on TV are actors, and all the cities are sets. When you go there on a plane or what have you, you actually land at a huge theme park that's made up to look like what you expect.
I'll be building on this theory and will bring you more from my findings.
