To you,
I'll give the world

To you,
I'll never be cold
"Let there be light" is not the same as, "Make there be light". me
Be healed, but forget not that I brought you out of Egypt.
"Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living." Anais Nin
"But let there be spaces in your togetherness
and let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another,
but make not a bond of love:
let it rather be a moving sea
between the shores of your souls." Gibran

"When love is the answer,
the question becomes irrelevant." (my heart)
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. Albert Schweitzer:
"Here lies One Whose Name was writ in Water" Keats' Epitaph
ALIEN TEARS WILL FILL FOR HIM
PITY'S LONG-BROKEN ERN,
FOR HIS MOURNERS WILL BE OUTCAST MEN,
AND OUTCASTS ALWAYS MOURN.
Wilde's Epitaph
"The fog is rising..." Emily Dickinson's Epitaph

The sketch by "Meli of Italy" is titled
"Romeo & Juliet" and symbolizes Ying/Yang to me.
The More Loving One
That, for all they care, I can go to hell,
But on earth indifference is the least
We have to dread from man or beast.
How should we like it were stars to burn
With a passion for us we could not return?
If equal affection cannot be,
Let the more loving one be me.
Admirer as I think I am
Of stars that do not give a damn,
I cannot, now I see them, say
I missed one terribly all day.
Were all stars to disappear or die,
I should learn to look at an empty sky
And feel its total dark sublime,
Though this might take me a little time.
"No sense in drinking milk if you ain't gonna smile." me

Michelle Hammersley
may my heart always be open to little
birds who are the secrets of living
whatever they sing is better than to know
and if men should not hear them men are old
may my mind stroll about hungry
and fearless and thirsty and supple
and even if it's sunday may i be wrong
for whenever men are right they are not young
and may myself do nothing usefully
and love yourself so more than truly
there's never been quite such a fool who could fail
pulling all the sky over him with one smile

"Thou wouldst be loved?- then let thy heart
From its present pathway part not!
Being everything which now thou art,
Be nothing which thou art not.
So with the world thy gentle ways,
Thy grace, thy more than beauty,
Shall be an endless theme of praise,
And love- a simple duty."
Poe
"What I wanted was to be loved for who I am, for who I was,
and for who I will be. I had to step into the heart of God to recieve that."
~~Normandi Ellis ~~

"The hardest challenge is to be yourself in a world where
everyone is trying to make you be somebody else."
-- E. E. Cummings
"...and the day came when the risk to remain
tight in a bud was more painful than the risk
it took to blossom." -- Anais Nin
"The absurd is born from the human need for meaning
and the unreasonable silence of the world. " Camus
miseria fortes homines." ~Seneca

"I imagine that yes is the only living thing." ee cummings
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a far better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
--the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for eachother: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph
and death i think is no parenthesis
~ee cummings~
"Sweet flowers are slow
and weeds make haste."
William Shakespeare

The Bad Old Days
Alice is my Hero of all Heroes

My HERO, Alice Cogswell (31 Aug. 1805-30 December 1830) was born at Hartford, Connecticut. Almost nothing is known of her life after that, except that she never married, and died of a "broken heart" 13 days after the death of her father. On the campus of the present American School for the Deaf stands a memorial statue to Gallaudet, which shows Alice rising from cupped hands. Another statue, portraying both Gallaudet and Alice, stands on the campus of Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. Gallaudet University also has a dormitory building named in honor of Alice Cogswell. Anyone that loves deeply enough to die of a broken heart...no greater love...no greater love, indeed.
I'm not too fond of contests, but sometimes they have merit...to accept the simplistic accolades of others is akin to “being treated like a pet.”
