Hi, I usually write poetry for my own happiness because the poetry that I have given to the Creative Writing tutors at my college has been heavily criticised, and this has really put me off giving it to them because the criticism can become quite nasty. Most of my poetry is quite dark and depressing, but I dont feel like this all the time its just that I feel compelled to write when I am feeling down.

I find it really hard sometimes to engage with people and it means I have days were I just want to sit in silence all day and not talk or look at anyone. I have to stop myself from getting carried away with my own thoughts alot of the time, I can quite easily worry myself into a complete state. I am lucky though that I have a great fiance who is patient with me and a wonderful friend who understands everything I feel. If anyone wants to suggest their poetry to me because they understand what I mean then I would really like to hear off you.

My favourite writers are; Langston Hughes, Ted Hughes, D. H. Lawrence, Sylvia Plath, William Faulkner and Virginia Woolf, if anyone has any poetry that has been influenced by these writers or anyone similar then feel free to get in touch, I would love to read what you have written.
