Welcome to my sanctuary.

sparrows are a symbol of freedom,
fun, young and enthusiastic spirit to live.
"Little Sparrow"
There you sit; a lone, timid, little sparrow
after all, a lesser bird tends not to dare sing,
beneath Spring's blossoms lays last year's sighs
dormant beneath Winter's helpless, broken wing.
Hold your own, brow beat, little sparrow
did not David slay Goliath in one throw
cling on firm, even determined, to the swaying branch,
even as did the lesser boy, with his humble, mighty bow.

I am a survivor of many things. Divorced parents. Physical abuse, verbal abuse, sexual abuse and emotional abuse. I've been in a hit and run accident, and I've given a child up for adoption when I wanted to keep him. I've been through two pregnancies, a few major surgeries, and judgment of my husband from my family based on the twelve year age difference. I have been through hell and back in the short twenty-three years I've walked this Earth. I haven't died yet, the Gods and Goddesses have something bigger in store for me yet. That which doesn't kill me, will only make me stronger.

Writing has always been therapeutic for me, a place I could run to when things in life became too ugly or too hard to handle. I've been writing since I was thirteen; just about ten years now. I try to write something every day; even if it's just a thought that could start some poetic inspiration. I strongly believe that poetry needs no editing when it comes straight from the heart, uncensored.
I write for many purposes, mostly self-healing, not for the public's enjoyment. As of late, I have been penning a lot of "voice" pieces. Those suffering from cancer, self harm, diseases, those who have been abused, etc. I also do tribute poems, such as for troops, firefighters, events, etc. I'm not afraid to look into the eyes of our past, bringing forth a reminder of the ugly truth. A true poet has no limitations.~
"Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration; the rest of us just get up and work."

Poetry Policy: Take the time to read other's work. It will help you grow as a person, reader, and writer. Comment on it. You can always find something positive to say as well as a way to help improve it and you should. Also if someone took the time to read your work and comment it, return the favor, always. This makes a great way to make new friends and new inspirations.
