Body drapes
diagonally crossed
sheets to contemplate
that thought is a process
and I am butterfly,
blue,electric velour,
beaten wing.
Curled on the couch.
Where the smell of home
holds my head,
flutters relief
and cradle forgives
with wings past fatigue
still to bless
these seven rosary beads
that Grandma prays
along the side
of her inherited flesh.
Then says how her bed
always reminds
her of the womb.
Ever comforting.
Is that where we all long to be?
Invited back into
water...and enveloped.
Cord to mother.
Metamorphosis.
With arms that wait
and wings that
stretch
from the foetal position
to embrace the night
of the eternal grandchild.
