    hi,
just wanted to drop in and thank you for ure comment on the column bitter chocolate - child abuse. Every single voice raised against the issue counts. And I'm sure somewhere out there, sometime, it will make a difference in someone's life. Please pass on the message of awareness.

G'day Srinivasan! My name's Ravenlord (Chris) and I'm a Greeter here at AP, which means I'm 'sposed to come by and show you the ropes. It's pretty straight-forward, but below is some info that might come in handy. I look forward to reading some of your stuff.

My first word of advice would be to look at the different kinds of membership. You've been given a four day trial Preferred Membership- which is a pretty sweet package. You can post your picture, use custom backgrounds etc. After the four days you'll still be able to post poetry and use the site, but there will be some small limitations. Free members can post two poems a day, plus one for every four comments they make. A comment has to earn points to count, but it's a great way to get people to check out your work anyway!

If you need a hand you can contact a Moderator (their name will be highlighted blue) or a Greeter (their names are highlighted green). Just to clear things up, a member in yellow is someone on your favourites list.

Every month Allpoetry.com runs a poetry challenge for new members to join. Click the 'Contests' tab and look for a challenge headed 'New Members Only'. You can win some points here, and points are great to promote your poetry or run your own contests. The November contest link is:

In general for each poem you post, it's good to critique at least four other poems. The more active you are with commenting on others' work, the more comments you'll get in return. It's a love/love relationship really.

This site isn't all about poetry though. You can also check out StoryWrite, which, as its name suggests is all about stories. Oldpoetry has a lot of classic poems, and it's always worth a look. There's also All Philosophy, so go by there if you feel like joining one of the discussions. I can personally vouch for Storywrite and Oldpoetry, they're both awesome facets of the site, but I've yet to visit All Philosphy for a great amount of time.

If you want your work read, but no one seems to be swinging by- the two options are to use the Shameless Promotion section, or to spend some points to Feature your work. I feature a lot of my stuff, and it's a good way to get your works read. It's not looked on nicely if you promote in the Chatter Box, and a moderator or greeter will probably jump on you if you do it. I found that out the hard way.

Allpoetry.com is an amazing site. There are great people here, not to mention the huge number of great poets. Welcome to the site, and I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I have. If you need anything, even just an opinion on your latest write or a chat- don't hesitate to IM me.

If you have any questions and can't find one of us, check out the following links:
