 ~ SparkleSatine~
Just Call Me Leslie
Mainly, I write because I am in love with words.  I love to put words together the way a composer loves to gel notes together to create a phrase- to say something beautiful.  At least, I hope it's beautiful. God has given me anything that anyone likes, so I take NO credit.  It's God's words to me, then to you.  I did my undergraduate work as a flute performance and music history major.  I also sing as a mezzo-soprano.  I play piccolo, and am learning piano.  One of my dreams is to conduct.  I also was a ballet dancer for several years before having to make the choice between music and dance.  Music was my first love.  My toe shoes are still in my room, and quite torn apart from years of dancing on them!  I love them.  I'll never let them go.

                                                          ~My Cross To Bear~

I live with a disease called SLE...a form of Lupus, with CNS involvement, heart disease, and lung problems.  Who knows what else?  If ever I don't return your kindnesses right away, like applause and things, it's because I'm usually pretty sick, or I just don't have the energy to do a really good write-up.
                                                       ~About Comments~

To a musician, their music is part of their soul, a painter, the same, I believe the same is true for writers and for poets.  When one hurts an artist, it cuts to the quick.  In my opinion, it's important to be aware of this before commenting on someone's work~ epecially if you are contemplating bashing or really harshly critiquing that person's work.  Ask yourself if you could handle that kind of treatment?  Is is really, really justified, and so important that you say these negative things?  Finally, are you saying negative things in the comment to truly help the other poet, or are you doing it to glorify yourself?  These are just many things I have come across in my 40 years on this earth! Also, if I misunderstand a joke comment, please forgive me. Please try to understand that. I don't say bad things about people's poetry because it's a part of them.  I find the good stuff.  I'm not perfect, and I don't feel I have any room to be harsh. I can only control my actions, so God's Blessings to everyone else, even those who are angry with me.

                                                          ~Other Stuff~

I really love the old '80's series, "Robin of Sherwood".  I also loved the music provided by Clannad.  I suggest checking out my Yahoo 360 page for more about me, and the things I really like. The link is http://360.yahoo.com/satinesparklette  I try to be as positive as I can.  Some portions of the page are only accessed by what Yahoo designates as your "friends", so please, open up a 360 page, and we'll add each other!  Did  I mention that for the past decade, I have been the most avid figure skating fan I know!?  Michelle Kwan has always been my favorite.  Now that she has had to withdraw from the Olympics, I guess I'm rooting for Irina Slutskya.  My heart isn't as into it without Michelle.

                                                     ~My Family~

It was a milestone turning 40 this year- and that is a current picture of me up there-it was me, my mom, and my two dogs:  Simon the Dachshund and Sammy the Lhasa Apso- who threw the big "party".   I have a photo album of them on my Yahoo 360 page, and they are on Dogster.com   I love them as if they were my own children.  They are the closest to children I shall have, at any rate.  I am totally o.k. with that.  I really love animals- especially dogs.

                                                  ~My Motivtion To Write~

I truly write for myself and to glorify God.  I rarely share my poems.  I have just begun to share them online in an unobscure way, so it's a risk for me.  I don't believe that what others think will affect how I view myself, but it may affect how I view you...(he, he ) .  That was a joke.  My beliefs are just that...mine.  I want to be a good, Christian example; however, I do not feel that trying to convert someone is right.  Anyone who wants to be Christian must do so willingly, otherwise, what's the use of the free choice God gave us?  *God made us all, in my opinion...gay, straight, bi, all colors, sizes, and shapes.  He loves us all equally!*

                                                       ~Life Events~

I write about nature and events in my life. Through this site, I hope to break out of those confines, and learn more genres.  Many of my poems are quite dark and sad. I was abused badly in a marriage that ended 11 years ago.  I believe Christ wants me to learn from it.  Otherwise, what's the point?   I was a flute performance major in college, taught for awhile privately, and then went to a business college in order to become employable!  I did win some really wonderful competition, and I was a soloist with the many ensembles at the university.  I really love and respect all types of music- not just classical.  I love it all!

So, that's it in a nutshell.  Well, a rather HUGE nutshell.  I'll probably think of more to add, but for now, that's all.  I do hope you enjoy what I have to say.
Love&Blessings Forever!

If I don't respond right away to anyone, I'm sorry. I have been in hospital for a bit, and now have heart complications with the SLE, (Lupus). I really appreciate all the kind things people have written, and I will pray that I can be as good back to you as you have been to me! Let's all pray that 2006 is our best year EVER!

Thank you to everyone who has been so kind to me. I never expected so much love and good wishes! I have, and continue to be, very ill from my SLE, and put in a miserable Christmas, and such. I have been in and out of hospital and doctor appointments. Please, do not think that I would ever ignore any of you. You have no idea how much your kindness has meant to me. It means the world! Love, Leslie
