*About Me*
Though I have been writing for as long as I can remember, my poetry was encouraged and grew under the strict rhythmic thumb of my high school AP English teacher. As of late, I have been trying to escape the world of rhyme schemes and beats, but have found it a hard habit to break. I have a slight perfectionistic attitude and will sometimes take years to complete a poem because I'm not happy with a certain line or the "flow" of one stanza doesn't match the others. I'm also plagued with reoccuring writer's block that has left me with a notebook full of clever one-liners that never make it any further.
And there is my reason for joining this site, in hopes that the poems and the poets here can help me "let loose" and "let flow" the poems in me that are dying to get out, or dying to be finished.
As a person, though I've notice this blurb makes me sound stuck-up and pretentious, I am neither. I am, in fact, the opposite. My motto probably describes me better than I ever could, as I (usually) don't sweat the small stuff, take things as they come, and don't plan any further than is absolutely necessary. But as people have their ups, they also have their downs and I turn to poetry to express how I feel behind the smile or the events in life that made me forget how to.
Anyway, I believe that sums things up. If you feel inclined to read anything I write, I am delighted, and if you feel inclined to leave any feedback, I am grateful and thank you ahead of time.

FireOnIce on August 6, 2006thanks very much for the wonderful comment and the trophy. Your contest was one of the few I truly enjoyed writing for and reading. It seemed to bring out the best in us. Hope to see more in the future. Once again, very thankful for everything.
