I write about what comes to me. My writing doesn't have to reflect me. Sometimes I am inspired by something a friend or someone close to me is going through. I write for fun and for the joy that I get out of it personally. Other people don't have to like what I write. As long as I like it, nothing else matters.
I'm in high school and writing is an escape for me to retreat to when my life suddenly takes a turn for the dramatic or when it becomes hectic. I have been writing since I was able to put words together but poetry is something new for me to embrace. I much prefer to write novels and I have even had a child's book that I have written published.
I strongly believe that it is a gift to be able to pick up a pencil and string words together and I try not to take it for granted. Poetry may not be my strong point but it's still a form of writing and it serves my emotions well.
