This is me

the following poem is to be published November 2008

Time isn’t a second,
or a sound, or a movement,
it’s where I am and you are.
Time isn’t something you can save,
see, or savour;
it passes at a distance -
unnoticed.
Time is my favourite thought
and favourite place to be,
it’s where genius creates,
the curious chance
and where you wait
for me.

Beyond Your Boundaries

“Look straight ahead!”
She said, looking through his eyes.
“But, just remember,
you never know what you
might be missing on the tip
of your nose when you’re looking
beyond the distance.”

“But surely,” he replied.
“I can amount to more
by looking further than
my own boundaries.”

“That’s very true” she uttered.
“But, you must learn to appreciate
and excel above the here and now
before leaping over the horizon.”

My Current Contests

My name is Nicola J Steel aka SilverScent. I'm 20 and have a wonderful boyfriend, Ben. I'm from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. I count myself to be very lucky. The only pain I've ever suffered is being an only child. I contsantly find myself thanking the air for my fortune, and for my enjoyment of writing poetry.
I've been writing since 2003 and it's something I enjoy as recreation and a way to release feelings that I cannot release in any other way.  Thanks to everyone for reading, please don't be a stranger to my work, I need your opinions and feedback to improve and to help me continue writing.
