ShiningNShadowsShow poetry

So, I was kicked offline for awhile but I'm back!!! Yay! Anyways, so I'm into a huge story mode right now but I'll try and put out some poetry shortly just cause. So...I'm just thankful to be back to all you wonderful people!!! *Hugs the world* LOL

RIP WHIP CITY STAR!

I'm always really crazy and I almost always have a pen in my hand or I'm typing up something. I'm known as "the" writer by some of my friends. Hope you enjoy all of my work!

I hope I can shine in a world of shadows and darkness...

This is a poem I wrote for a horse I recently lost.

Winter's Spirit

Doesn't it seem oddly fitting,
That a horse faster than the rest
Gets to race along Heaven's land?
Showing off to our history's best.

With his heart of pure molten gold,
And a stubborn streak a mile wide,
Let him run atop the clouds
At famous Man of War's side.

Lord watch over 'loved White Boy while
Secretariet he races.
Laugh as we did while he plays games,
Rolling, bucking in your graces.

He may not have been the fastest,
Not when tied down to this green land.
But as his spirit soars the skies,
You can see his greatness firsthand.

Now that his leg can't hinder him,
And his heart is healthy once more.
We can look to the sky at night,
And know Winter's spirit's galore.

REST IN PEACE WHIP CITY STAR aka WINTER. WE ALL MISS YOU AND WILL SEE YOU AGAIN SOMEDAY. SAVE A RACE FOR ME, WHITE BOY.

Whip City Star, Winter, was a horse I first rode 6 years ago. I was the only one he'd actually work for. He was a retired race horse that had been pulled from the industry for breaking his leg. His first two homes after that he was abused. When he finally came to me and my friends, he was afraid and had horrible manners. We saw the spirit in him. Always one to race and play, Winter always kept us laughing. He threw me countless times, once bucked me into the snow on a trail ride, and smacked me in the mouth which busted my lip.

He was diagnosed with a heart murmur a year ago and they said he'd live for many years.

Shane, a good friend of mine, purchased him from the woman who was giving me lessons on him, Abby. Abby said she'd never sell a horse to Shane that wasn't in the best of shape, and with his heart, he wasn't. Shane wanted him and wouldn't be dissuaded. She purchased Winter for one dollar.

Shane looked up his racing history and we found out he'd won over $50,000 in the short time he'd raced.

Winter loved her dearly, but she said he would always be mine. I loved him as if he were.

These last few months he began going down often and he was starting to freeze in the cold January nights. He was euthanized on January 17, 2009.

RIP Winter. Shane and I will see you again!!!

This is a very well written poem about your love for a horse. I love horses, too.
You might enjoy my poem, "Oscar". It is about a palomino horse that I rode almost every day.
