When I was at the check out in the grocery store about a week ago, it was early in the morning and there was only one cashier and no one to bag the groceries that she sent down the belt at a fairly fast pace. 2
I noticed the lady whose groceries she was ringing up just stood there waiting expectedly for someone else to sack her groceries for her. While this is a service the store usually provides, it does have a tendency to hold the whole line up if they are short handed and the cashier has to ring the stuff up then bag them.3
A small woman that was next in line decided to help. This lady who is the owner of one of the neighborhood Japanese restaraunts is in the store every morning at about the same time, so she's quite at home with all the people and the store itself.4
The Japanese lady walks with her head held high and a big smile on her face right behind the lady waiting very patiently for someone to sack her groceries.5
As the Japanese lady reaches the end of the counter, she poses as a bagger and with a polite and genuine smile asked the waiting customer "plastic alright for you ma'am or you want paper?" Her smile and kindness never faltered.6
"Oh you don't have to do that, they'll do it" the lady replied obviously astounded at this womens gumption.7
"No it's ok, I help, plastic ok?" The Japanes lady replies still in her friendly manner as she starts bagging in plastic.8
Now by this time the cashier was all but laughing, but was obviously amused and maybe even happy with what was going on at the end of her counter.9
The waiting customer tried to insist but to now evail. The Japanese lady explained she was in here every day and she'd help because they're short handed. "It's all right I don't mind" she told the lady. Well the lady waiting for someone to bag her groceries for her was about to cry by this time, I honestly believe it was embaracement. She finally conceded and insisted on helping the other lady sack her groceries.10
Once the cashier finished checking all the groceries she assisted in sacking the rest of the groceries which were few by this point.11
The lady now in the most humble state couldn't thank the other woman enough and finally paid and left.12
I guess what I appriciated most about this experiance and display is that kindness was shown so generously even towards apparent selfcenteredness. I guess I just appriciated seeing an act of kindness. 13
All and all it was rather amusing, the woman that had been waiting for her groceries to be bagged by someone else because she believed it was someone elses "job" to do so, I believe found a very humbling experiance that day.14
It was fun, especially since very few people like to take resposability for their own actions, much less lift a finger to help anyone else out in an obviously tight situation.15
The thought of it still elevates my mood to this day.
Within the Valley
As I walked along the rivers sandy banks
The current rustled and looked as mirrored glass:
crystal clear waters, shone paled rocks, with a lone bass;
the bottom of the bed sandy, top waters glistened in thanks
to the warm sun, causing metallic water shanks.
My heart soared to the hawk flying high above the grass
in the distance where love once likened a snow white rose in Mass.
Mountains ice caped afar, the clear water now I drank.
What difference being within these valleys
Where men once stood bleeding their crimson blood;
Yesterday's hindsight in blackened fear,
Now is today's solace and paradise, wealthy,
with all of natures beauty, such as a gray dove,
we remember our prosperity, our wealth, good cheer.
Sand Grains On a Beach
Your so sensual
I feel your embrace in everything I do
Your so secretive
I feel your oneness
even when scant and all new
I recollect your visions
as time being still
and envision your serenity
like passion, a thrill
I find concern in your regard
for humanity as a whole
and regard duress where needed
no discretion their heart stole
You'll find my mind
in resonance with one
to eternal factors of concern
true love never undone
You'll question the stars
like sand grains on the beach
to gather gumption of most
to capture us you reach
Your compassion renders me whole
as the pacific blue sea
while my feelings are complete
pure as a pine redolenced breeze.
Thank you for stopping by.
