I'm what I would call a fledgling poet. Most of my poetry is from when I was in high school. I have only recently begun to write again. I love writing, and reading, and have since I was a small child.
I started writing at the age of two. I used to ask my mother for the spelling of words. I saw one of my first notes in my baby book a while back. The only problem was I tended to do my "S" backwards, lmao.
I was an avid reader before I reached kindergarten. In fact, I was so far ahead of my grade level already I was reading grade 2 books and they had problems finding more reading material for me. As a result of reading so much, and so far ahead of my grade level, I developed a vocabulary that was much larger than that of my peers. Unfortunately, this resulted in much teasing, and bullying, because while I was a quiet person, I was also very intelligent, and much farther ahead in development mentally than my peers. In grade 7, we had to take a reading and comprehension proficiency test. I was the most advanced in my class, already reading and comprehending at a 4th year university level. And yet still, some of the simplest things to grasp elude me.
My pet peeve is stupidity. I cannot abide it. There is a difference between stupidity and ignorance. To be ignorant, is to not know about something. To be stupid is to know something, and still disregard it. If you cannot meet with me on my own level, or a level that is above me in intelligence, I will find it very difficult to talk to you. It's not intentional, but once I realise that someone cannot stimulate the thought processes in my brain, I lose interest in them.
I like all kinds of music. Country excluded, for the most part. I love R&B, Classical, Soul, Blues, Choral, Jazz, Hiphop, Rock, Pop, and many more kinds of music. I find music to be the one thing that can make my entire being, both body and soul, dance. Music affects my moods, and sometimes, I listen to it because I want to be in a certain mood. Or sometimes because I am in a certain mood and want to stay that way.
I love computer games and video games. Can't get along without them, really. God help the guy that tries to take my games away, Cuz I'll probably kill him, lmao. Currently lacking in variety of games. My comp sucks. Playing Chaos OT at the moment almost 24/7, subtracting time for sleep. I'll soon be playing StarCraft, and no, I am not interested in playing it with you. I have my own people to play with already. I also enjoy all kinds of gameboy games, and I love Halo, and Halo 2 and Fable and such for Xbox. Need for Speed Underground is good too XD. For PS2, games like Final Fantasy (series, ffs), Burnout 3, Baldur's Gate (both), Champions of Norrath (both), and such work well. Prolly more than that, but my computer is my best friend (and worst fucking enemy... Piece of shit doesn't like to work.)
I like nature. I like the sound of the rain on glass. I like the swaying of the trees when they are touched by a wind or breeze. I like the sound of the wind, the sound of the many birds in the morning. I like the full moon (and every other phase of it as well). I like to see the first hint of pink in the sky as the sun gets ready to start the new day. I like the lake, and how, in the most violent of winds, one half of it will still be calm (or at least calmER than the other side by far) (if you live by Okanagan Lake, you know what I am talking about). I love the Spring season. I love how new life appears at each new turn. I love Summer. I love how everything has a chance to either live and grow, or be destroyed. I love Fall. Fall is the season that makes the most sense. The old things fall and are cast away. We prepare for Winter's chilly grip and sigh and deeply wish that Summer were here again. I love Winter. The season that has been taken as a metaphor for death so many times in fact has a greater meaning. Spring could not be if Winter were not. Winter is, in reality, the season of strength. It is the time when hibernating seeds and plants, all buried under layers of snow and ice, determine which of them will survive the winter. Those that do, are obviously the greater plants, and will grow to be strong and healthy. Winter is also the season of protection. Mosquitoes, moths, beetles, even bees... Winter kills a certain percentage of them off each year. It helps with pest control... like it did before humans were ever around.
I like movies. I like The Crow, with Brandon Lee, I like Aliens, I like Predator, I like a lot... Here is where the effectiveness of a list comes in... I like the following movies/movie series: Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Carribean, Troy, Alexander the Great, Kingdom of Heaven, The Brothers Grimm, Harry Potter, Bowling for Columbine, The Chronicles of Narnia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (as well as the original, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory), and many more, but an exhaustive list would be just that, ehausting, lol...
I like art.... No, once again I have not said exactly what I feel... I would not be around were it not for art... I have to have art in order to live, breathe, etc... I am a very artistic person from a very artistic family.. I draw, paint, sculpt, write, sing, etc... I do not play a musical instrument very well (yet), but I love almost all other forms of art...
I'd have to say my favorite poet is probably Robert Frost. I've read a lot of his works, and find his poetry to be moving, in a way that some poets are simply not.
My favorite authors are Anne Rice (her Vampire Chronicles. Haven't read any of the newer books), Anne McCaffrey, and Dean Koontz. There used to be more, but I cannot remember their names anymore. I like the Dragonlance Series, The Shannarah Series, Star Wars, Narnia, Twilight, and probably a few more that I have missed.
I am always open to constructive criticism on my work. I want to know how I can improve. However, if you have nothing constructive, or kind to say, and only feel like trolling, or bashing my poems, please don't post. You are of no help to me if you are going to do that, and I am not here to simply allow others to trample over me as if I were so much dirt. I am here to learn, and grow, and to enjoy the poetry of myself and others. I will not be rude to you, and in fact, even posting constructive criticism, I apologise lest I seem to harsh, so please return the favor and do not be rude to me.
Lastly, I apparently have to say this, I want no stupid comments in my guest book. I don't want just another MySpace. It took courage for me to put my poetry up on this site. Only one person has ever seen all of it, and she was my English Teacher in Grade 11. If you don't have anything valuable to say, then I don't want the comments.

Bean Sidhe on January 3Your English teacher should be proud of you. You have skill in wordcraft and it will grow with use. Welcome to this site - I have found that it has helped me immensely and I hope it will do the same for you.

Papagallo : Hi Again on May 18, 2008If you like the dark poetry read Sylvia Plath or Ann Sexton. The scary stories Egar Allen Poe or Stephen King. I am sure you have potential, just write more.
