Shadow KeeperShow poetry

Hey everyone! Jambo Marafiki! What's up, habari yako, and how's it going? Thanks so much for dropping by. I welcome you to my page and hope that you will enjoy my poetry. I kinda go back and forth between fiction and truth, but usually my fictional stuff is based on something from somewhere else or the way that I am feeling. But hey, I always like to change it up a bit! I also don't write that often. A lot of the time my works have to have me be motivated or inspired or I must be in the mood to write. I guess that also has to do with the fact that I can be pretty lazy sometimes. Anyways, sit back, relax, and I hope you like my work!

...........................................................................

Some stuff that I love include sports, they are pretty much my life. I love all sports actually, but my favourites are soccer, ice hockey, and field hockey. I am a soccer goalie as well as a field hockey goalie, but I am a defender in hockey. I also like windsurfing and kayaking as well as many other sports.

My friends mean the world to me, and are a huge part of my life too. They are also the reason why I live each day and continue to push forward, even if it is hard. I love each and everyone one of them and I don't need to name them because they know who they are.

I love music as well. Aside from my sports and friends, I live for my music. I played in my school concert and jazz bands on the trumpet and trombone, but I am also learning the bass and can do a bit of drumming as well.

Some bands that I like (in no particular order):

Linken Park, Cold Play, BarlowGirl, Hawk Nelson, tobyMac, Fall Out Boy, Oasis, Maroon 5, Gorillaz, Good Charlotte, The Offspring, Blink 182, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Billy Talent, Yellowcard, Switchfoot, Evanescence, Bowling for Soup, Sublime, Story of the Year, The Killers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, POD, Jack Johnson, Relient-K, Green Day, Rise Against, Our Lady Peace, The Starting Line, My Chemical Romance, MxPx, Weezer, The Temptations, Backstreet Boys, etc...

Other than all the stuff mentioned above, I am also a Christian. Sure, some of thoes bands are definitely far from it, but being a musician and a poet as well, I look more at how a song is put together, i.e., instruments, rhythm, tempo, melody, harmony, etc. Lyrics are usually secondary to me. But that is all a bit off topic. The fact is that I had went through some rough times which are only slightly depicted in my poetry. I learned that turning away from everyone, including friends and family, and most importantly the Lord, was not the path I wanted to go down in the end. I am still recovering from thoes past years, but i have definitely turned my life around a lot since then. In the words of Relient K, "Who I am hates who I've been." It's not an over-night process to change and it will take time. It's not easy, and it never will be, but that is why my God is there to help me. I pray that no one will ever have to go down thoes dark paths, and if they do, I am always willing to talk and help them out.

One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.

We should not let our fears hold us back from pursuing our hopes.

Negativity is a waste of energy.

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
