September ButterflyShow poetry

For quite a few years I kept to myself the things that I wrote, too shy, too self contained to even think about sharing. But, when I finally chewed all my fingernails off, again, and shared a thing or two, it was wonderful! And people shared back the things that they wrote, or thought about writing, and that was even more wonderful. I have always written, scraps of notepaper, backs of grocery store receipts, coupons put to better use. I've written my way through loss of faith and trust and hope, and written my way into love, and belief, and life. In a way, the things I write are chronicles of the best of me, and a little too often the worst of me.

Sharing music unabashedly is new to me also. My motto there is "Bad Music is Better Than No Music". So, like some of my writing, the performance may not ever be the greatest, but it will be fun and, as my music teacher said once, "One of these days you'll actually play something somebody'll want to hear."

I've been fretting the past few weeks that I never seem to find the time to respond to all the insightful, perceptive, and supportive comments that I have received. My sweetheart suggested that I say here, "Thank you". I read everyone's comments, take them to heart, and am so grateful to those who take the time to read my stuff. I plan to return comments, read the amazing offerings of poetry that you all contribute, get to know some of you as you've gotten to know me. But, just having the peace to write poetry, play music, work in my yard or on my home, and especially to take comfort in all that is fine and good in my life is new to me, I'm tending to wallow in it. But that doesn't mean I don't read, Brother John knows I'm an infamous lurker, just a bad correspondant! Thank you Katie, John, Brother John , Scarlet O, Grannyeri, Sonja, and so many others!
