Sean kinsellaShow poetry

I'm a fan of the classic Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century poets, and also of the 1611 scriptural language (liveth, unto, verily etc) used to translate the Bible. I would in no way claim to be the new Gray, Wordsworth or Tennyson, but I'm inspired by them, and the last 2 lines of 'Crossing the Bar', make me want to weep each time I read them. I have suffered from mental illness for 28 years and accordingly this has coloured some of my experiences and poetry. I have been a Christian since March of 1994, and this has also inspired some of my work. but I do not believe in employing Christian poetry to rhetorically re-tell Bible stories. Instead I believe we should use our faith to engage the major issues that concern the world, and then they will have more time to engage with us. I was educated at University College Swansea (now University of Wales Swansea) in History, and at The University of Sheffield in Biblical Studies. Education however can rarely substitute for experience and life has taught me this lesson if nothing else. I've returned to the UOS with effect from September last, to study for a Certificate in Creative Writing, following which I hope to pursue an MA inCreative Writing at Sheffield Hallam University.
