A bit about me:

I'm older than a lot of people on this site and am happily married (although you wouldn't know it from my poetry).  Many of my poems remember a dear friend that passed away seven years ago.  She was a poet herself- understand why we loved her so- check out her memorial website.

I have decided to challenge myself to one poem a day to stretch my writing.  I'll probably try a lot of crazy contest poems in different "characters" and I'm actually excited about the prospect.

I've placed in several contests, but can't remember what poems won which trophies.  Here's a partial list:

Also, I was hoping that the poem would honor you, an excellent teacher and friend.

Thank you for the award, and I'm pleased that the piece may honor the memory of your friend Ginger. I haven't checked back here in a while because of school schedule demands, so I just found out about it and read your message.
I have read your kind words about this Ginger girl many times. I think I even took at look at the linked site before. But this gave me opportunity to look closer and attempt to see who she was. So, also, thank you for that opportunity. I'm sorry now that it took a contest to inspire the attention.
And as a bonus, I wrote a very touching piece that would never have come from me alone. It's not about me, and I don't know where the "story" of it sprang from. But I surely would not have crafted it so without careful time spend with words of your departed friend. So, for my part, you can say that you have spread what goodness she brought to you, and you have brought some more life to her memory.

Kite Runner is currently my favorite because it is so very real and explores cultural differences in a very intriquing way. Thanks for you comment

    hello there,
i entered your 4s contest a few days ago, and on a whim visited your authors page. Very interesting background, by the way. I've looked through a good deal of your poetry- you have an intriguing style, one I haven't come across before, that I enjoy immensely. I'm not surprised to see something unusual from someone whos favorite book is kite runner- Excellent, haunting novel, but a strange choice for a favorite...
    anyway, i'm rambling. ignore me.
    peace,
    myno
