Sami Jenkis was born of Sleep in 2004. Since his first exposure to spoken word in 2002, he has joined the poetry community throughout Florida and the United States. Sami Jenkis has been published in Maganda Magazine and competed in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 National Poetry Slams as a member of the Broken Speech Orlando slam team. He has also helped run the "exhale" open mic in Gainesville, Florida. He continues to try to open minds and dialogue through the medium of poetry.
