I desire to unravel and elucidate the endless and maddening drifting mannerisms of language; to lay bare its writhing coils in metaphor and query; to dance around meaning like the snow falls, illusory everywhere yet never touching, denying empirism's truths. I do not dance with language; I am not its partner in this waltz; but I seek to emulate the waves of hair left in its wake as it twirls to a soundless accompaniment, to stamp my feet in tune and time with its own, to feel as it does the wonder and grace evoked through its sensual and amazing pavane.
Where language treads, there do I kneel, as the pilgrim at the altar. Where language pirhouettes, I strain for a note of the song to which it pays lip service alone. Where language speaks, the silence punctuated by its cry, I can but echo its scintillating pattern.
Where language sups, there sup I.
