For Everything There Is a Season is a collection of poetry filled with warmth, frankness, and passion. It contains a mixture of styles involving love, birth, death and everyday life. For Everything There Is a Season is an emotional journey through poetry that will make you step back and re-evaluate your own life and its experiences. Even those who are not confirmed poetry lovers will enjoy this collection for its simplistic messages and colorful imagery. "When winter has ended, life begins anew." So begins this voyage of words.

The Poet
~Ruth Kephart~
She sits there alone,
Pen in hand.
The paper before her,
Taunts her with its whiteness.
Empty and void as it is;
As though it dares her
To fill it with her emotions.
The pen glides effortlessly
Across its smooth surface;
Filling the page with words;
Filling the page with energy.
Here she is once more,
Writing her thoughts
For all the world to know.
Feelings once held inside,
Now in plain view.
And sometimes she feels exposed,
Frightened by the naked truth,
So open for others to see.
They say the eyes
Are the windows to the soul...
She would have to disagree.

The Falcon To The Falconer
~~Jonathan Steffen~~
Unleash me from your hand
And I will lance the light for you
I'll cut a swordblade on the wind
And pennant it with flight for you
To signal I am yours
If you will free me to be true to you
Unleash me from your hand
And I will mock the sky for you
I'll pull the anger from the air
And make the breezes sigh for you
To show that I am yours
If you will free me to be true to you
Unleash me from your hand
And I will jewel it bright for you
I'll hunt the treasures of the wind
And pluck them into sight for you
To show that I am yours
If you will free me to be true to you
O, cast me from your hand
That I may show my love for you
And throw me to the wind
That I may know my need for you
All darkness on your hand
I'm hooded, pinned, and held by you
O, give me back my wings
That they may bring me back to you
My poetry is simple, easy to understand. I write for the common folk who have no desire to turn to a dictionary to figure out exactly what it is they're reading. I take my poetry from life itself, past experiences, things I see, things I hear about. I'm honest with my words and if sometimes my poetry steps on a few toes...hey, what can I say, perhaps they needed stepping on to begin with.

poetryality on September 12, 2006Hi Ruth,
Congrats on your publication. I am a starving artist, and cannot afford to purchase anything at this point but that job is right around the corner, and so is my publication.
I will purchase a book from you as soon as I am able. I have a whole list from this site. LOL I am adding yours now.
Blessings & Love ♥
Renee
