Greetings and welcome to my pages of poetry. I hope you enjoy reading my poems as much as I enjoyed writing them.
I have been writing poetry on-line for about eight years now, and first discovered an interest in writing poetry about nineteen years ago.
I used to fondly sketch pictures and cartoons with words on pieces of paper and from thus would come poems and short rhythms. Colours from the drawings gave me the time to think before I'd write, and I guess what I mean is that I kinda miss this.
In- fact it would great to either be able to do this on a poetry website, or just maybe it is a way of me saying how ungrateful am actually feeling. However that aside I am very grateful for all the support I have received over the years in this community.
In particular I would firstly like to mention EA who has consistently over the past three years kept me motivated to write poems through her endless supply of competitions. Plus all her friends who always support her competitions with nice comments.
I have received I think most of my meddles from EA. Secondly I would like to put a plug in for Kevin who originally started this AllPoetry community and last but not least to Sarah Brinklow who's words and pro-active opportunity gave me the ability to do a bit of service within the group DarkWrite, who some of you might remember because you supplied some of the content for which Sarah was a founder of.
We had a few memorable competitions that drummed up a bit of enthusiasm here on AllPoetry which I fondly remember drove a phenomenal amount of traffic. Back in the days when video's and radio pod-casts were not such favourable mediums.
There are many writers male and female who I have read over the years who have deeply inspired me and pushed me on to grow in my ideology, at times explored philosophy and even moments of gaining the memento of story-writing however with stories I often get bored, likewise big poems can be tricky for my attention span.
Things which I would like to develop more in my growth of poetry are exploring form of my poems and the recital of favourite pieces. Supportively I would like to conform and find a few classical poems that really touch me in some way and might even help me grow in this path we call life.
With regards to my thirst for poetry, well consistently that thirst keeps getting more and despite the conflicts it has with academic writing. I cannot explain what writing has done for me neither do I care to try and define what my poetic preference's are. However what I will say and I'll end on this poetry helps me in so many different ways it's difficult for me to articulate. One of them being the social goals I gain from simply wanting to be surrounded by poets, musicians, classical artists and avant-garde minded people. Much of what I write here is actually inspired within here.
On that note I wish you well in your struggles to explain what its all about this medium called 'AllPoetry'.
