Friends and Dragons

She worries in the darkness,
With dismay or distress,
Wrestling with her enemy,
All night, more or less.

She knows the answers,
From the written word.
Still the doubts and fears,
Will insist on being heard.

I hope she comes to realize,
In her wrestling with them,
The dragons can only come,
When she invites them in.

But the dragons will
Still come to call.
We each have struggles,
Every one and all.

Whenever you feel down,
Whenever you are blue,
Those darkest times,
You don’t know what to do.

Remember you have friends,
Who won’t run away,
And also have a God,
Who’s word will always stay.

Call on both of them!
For we will stay around.
God will sooth the past,
And beat the dragons down.

Michael Helvey

Author notes

For Sandygram, who will sometimes toss and turn, awaking in the night when the deamons are around.

    Awesome Job!

'Friends and Dragons' what an awesome write. Those dastardly dragons will always come to call but it's up to us to decide if we should answer or not at all. Your poem shows a great deal of strength and courage. Keep up the grreat work. Avril

Thank you Julie. Friendship is like that, or should be... there when you’re down to help pick you up again. I’m glad you are on the upswing. Cheers (I say with a smile) Michael.

This is so beautiful. Thank you for the reminder...God is stronger than any demons...than any dragons...than any monsters....and is always there.

    Love and light,
