I'm Nadezhda...or Nadya...or...any manner of other things people probably call me when I'm not around.
I've lived in several different places for several different reasons...I will spare you my life story by just summing up....I was born in Lost, Scotland (I promise...people really do live there), I now go to University in Berkeley, California...and some things happened in between to the effect that I now speak real English and live in a real city.
I come from a family of completely mad Russian people. This makes my Christmas interesting.
My passions include journalism, debate, old book shops, hot beverages of almost every kind, existentialism, Twee, coffee shops, ellipses, surrealism, the rain, social satire, T.S. Eliot, photography, Ingmar Bergman, theatre, music, traveling for extended periods of time, Russian literature, Russian hats, Franz Liszt, film, my cat, writing, writing badly, The Decemberists, The Decembrists, and cozy scarves.
Any combination of two or more of the above, would have to be among my passions as well....
I'm a bit of a slow writer when it comes to poetry, so if I don't have something new as often as you'd like--I apologise.
Please don't be hesitant to give criticism, I'll appreciate it.
Having nothing else to say, I've decided to do the cliche thing and fill some space with quotes I enjoy. Enjoy them if you'd like!
"No one ever reached a single truth without talking nonsense fourteen times first---perhaps even a hundred and fourteen"
--Fyodor Dostoevsky; Crime and Punishment
"He who isn't busy being born is busy dying"
--Bob Dylan
"Measure me whilst I'm alive---when I'm dead it will be too late"
-Vladimir Nabokov; Invitation to a Beheading
"All great deeds and all great thoughts have a ridiculous begining"
--Albert Camus
"One always dies too soon, or too late. And yet one's whole life is complete at that moment, with a line drawn neatly under it, ready for the summing up."
--Jean Paul Sartre
"Truth is a great flirt"
-Franz Liszt
"Life's but a walking shadow."
--William Shakespeare; Macbeth
"We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
--Lewis Carroll; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
"It's Kool-Aid time!"
--Kurt Vonnegut
"It is an infantile superstition of the human spirit that virginity would be thought a virtue and not the barrier that separates ignorance from knowledge."
--Voltaire

Mallius on April 22, 2007This Poet is not only poetically tallented but truly an artist when it comes to her written work. Make no mistake when the Author mentions her tendancy to take her time, as it definitly shows in the quality of her work, which exponentially exceeds the quantity. "Speed is only blurred mistakes".
Great Work!
