'Whoever thinks a faultless piece to see,
Thinks what ne'er was, nor is, nor e'er shall be.
In every work regard the writers end,
Since none can compass more than they intend;
And if the means be just, the conduct true,
Applause, in spite of trivial faults, is due.'
Alexander Pope (1688-1744)
Every one of us posesses a 'creativity' which can generate some kind of positive response in somebody, so by expressing our individual perceptions, through verse, I believe we can discover an emotional solidarity amongst complete strangers. The point is, who dares to open themselves up with their own creativity, for others to see?
Looking at Popes words, I feel that perhaps the world would be a happier place if we measured people (and not just their creative works) from the perspective he describes. Unfortunately, my background predisposed me to negatively interpreting the people and situations I meet, which was a deeply disabling affliction. I'm worked on it and want the world to know that without the trust and good example of the lady I share my life with, I would not be as able to experience life quite so positively.
