Hey, the name's Katie and I hope that was obvious unless you pronounced my username: puh-thet-ik-th
My expectation is to receive notes everytime I visit this site and to have those notes contain comments on my work
---------The Status of My Muse---------
I'm still looking for inspiration to write poetry from the heart and not from prompts from endless contests. I do write personal writes once in a while but why once in a while? Many things in my head are interesting to pen but it's only sometimes that I find the time and will to write about them and my life is boring but maybe even words of such depth can make it captivating which is why I still write poetry.
---------Being a Reader---------
I like to read other people's poems but I steer away from cliche unless it's written well, anything that contains adult content and immature writes like emo, cutting, naive love and those kind of writes.
I have yet to be familiarized with fantasy and so I wouldn't mind reading one but maybe one day I won't be neutral to them.
I seem to have a dislike to 1-5 line poems even though making a write beautiful in brevity is a nice accomplishment, I just don't find it as a poem, it may be just me, though(Haikus are an exception)
When it comes to epic poems, I have yet to find something that will let me read 'till the last line but I wouldn't mind reading one, it's just I don't want to disappoint the author for my lack of energy to read his/her long and hopefully, well thought out piece.
---------Being a Commentator/Critic---------
The only time I comment is when I find the piece to be almost perfect because if not then well, I like to critique.
Not in a way that dissects a poem but to see the pros and cons since there will never be a poem in a state of perfection; most of the time, I see the glass filled half full.
All in all, I try my best to read poetry that will interest me and satisfy the hope of a poet who wants their writes to be read and be commented on without that 'this is great' comments or 'i hate this, you should do this and that . . .' critique.
---------My style---------
I started to write rhyming poems and be too descriptive. Right now, I'm open to many form poetry and freeverse. I am interested to know how to write prose but maybe I'll find the time someday.
I've written short pieces like 1-5 lines but I don't consider them as poems. I regret writing them but I'll leave them as is. On the other hand, I've written a few poems that are 50+ lines and I may regret writing them but I will always love the theme I thought from there, I'll just have to find a way to place them in consistency.
I don't write about love since I have no experience in that department. I write about it when it is something general or fictional. In dark, I write them in maybe abstract or philosophical ways and not in gory or sick, twisted ways.
I think nature themes seem to dominate my poems but I got out of that state since I am now writing something that's relevant to life.
I have a hard time writing humorous writes. I've pulled off just one but it was a haiku and nothing else. I am learning to write poems with raw emotions and I ceased from writing a poem that gives an instinct for the reader to check out the dictionary. So I place imagery but not in a way to confuse the reader.
Other than that, I think I'm pretty generic when it comes to writing poems. Most of my writes aren't cliche(Oh gosh, I hope I'm right with that fact
) I like to be challenged by contests and give inspiration that I got to strangers.
---------A friend---------
The only poet that I can be the most comfortable with is Kal.. The reasons why there are other people that I have made as a favorite are that they've made me as a fave and I was honored, we've associated with each other through group contests or a simple chat and because a few of them are poets I admire.
I wouldn't mind having friends here in this site especially having readers loving my work since friends can give you inspiration to visit this site and fans, one way to put it, can give you the boost to write your all even when you're aiming to write a simple piece.
I just would want to be appreciated for my work and well, one day, maybe a bunch of people will be blessed to see my work. I'm aiming too high, I know but hey, nothing wrong with being hopeful.
Anyway, I'm shy but get to know me, I might be fun to be with or boring, depends on you, really
---------My works---------
I've divided them in categories in case you want to have an ease in having a first impression of me as a writer.
List 1: From Life
-in construction-
Please check out the poems I'm focused on since I currently find them as writes I would love to get comments/critiques on or possibly check out my previous works. They're dusty but I'd like to see some honest views about it. If you don't want to read old poems of mine then maybe check out my recent works
I love sensible comments(I dislike phrases of praise) and encouraging critiques(I don't need my poem to be dissected, thank you very much)
---------About Me---------
-in construction-
Basic things:
-Proud to be a Filipino
-Born in August 27, 1992
-Pathetic with reason I shall enumerate one day through poetry
**Current Status**
I'll be attending my second year in college on the 8th of September. I really hope that I will find the time to write poetry and hopefully, write pieces that are from my heart.
---------End---------
All in all, take care and God bless.
