I have always considered myself an artist and a poet even at the early age of 6 and 7, however these creative endeavors took a back seat when I became a mother. They found me again after I retired; I still call both . . . my hobbies, although they occupy most of my time. Serious writing found me in 1999. To tweek my talents I took a year of Literature and studies in the proper forms of poetry and received a certificate which entitles me to be called a Poet Laureate. I endeavor to learn as many forms of poetry as time allows me and I have just begun to explore Avant Garde and Stream of Consciousness writing. I also consider myself a Historical writer as I enjoy researching and writing about history. I have many collections as I seem to favor writing in series. One is Mary Todd Lincoln; I have completed the first 30 years of her life in poetic form and it is posted under Opal Sunflower at www.poets.com. Another is my series about child abuse under the same name and as SISTERS OF THE SOIL SERIES. Presently I am writing as OPAL SUNFLOWER II a series titled AND THE OLD LADY SAID. I have many Children's stories and have self published and illustrated one collection, which was a great achievement for me as my vision was limited at the time.
