Mad Girl's Love Song by Sylvia Plath

"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"

From one of our own:

Blank Pages by Jamiedoring

Pretending away all of her sadness,
peeling herself apart from the madness,
Counting backwards inside of her head,
she’s only a cover of a book never read.

Yesterdays gone and tomorrow is near,
but somehow today just never got here.
Nothing is right but she just can’t explain,
she’s so fucking tired of hiding the pain.

Pills lined up and stacked on the table,
even her doctor believes she is stable.
Madness is all she feels when awake,
a sad porcelain doll beginning to break.

Secrets unlocking and screaming inside,
poking and prodding a heart that has died.
Young but not foolish with heart aged in old,
she stares at blank pages of a story untold.

With unfeeling pain and a tear in her eye,
in unwritten words she says her goodbye.

Because I Could Not Stop For Death by Emily Dickinson.

Because I could not stop for Death—
He kindly stopped for me—
The Carriage held but just Ourselves—
And Immortality.

We slowly drove—He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility—

We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess—in the Ring—
We passed the fields of Gazing Grain—
We passed the Setting Sun—

Or rather—He passed Us—
The Dews drew quivering and chill—
For only Gossamer, my Gown—
My Tippet—only Tulle—

We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground—
The Roof was scarcely visible—
The Cornice—in the Ground—

Since then—'tis Centuries—and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses' Heads
Were toward Eternity—

Hatred is a bitter, damaging emotion.
It winds itself through the blood, infecting its host and driving it forward without any reason.
Its view is jaundiced and it skews even the clearest of eye sights.

Sacrifice is noble and tender.
It’s the action of a host who values other above himself.
Sacrifice is bought through love and decency. It is truly heroic.

Vengeance is an act of violence.
It allows those who have been wronged to take back some of what was lost to them. Unlike sacrifice, it gives back to the ones who practices it.

Love is deceitful and sublime.
In its truest form, it brings out the best in all beings.
At its worst, it’s a tool used to manipulate and ruin anyone who is stupid enough to hold it.

Don’t be stupid.
Sacrifice is for the weak. Hatred corrupts.
Love destroys. Vengeance is the gift of the strong.

Move forward, not with hatred, not with love.
Move forward with purpose.

Take back what was stolen. Make those who laughed at your pain pay.
Not with hatred, but with calm, cold rationale.
Hatred is your enemy. Vengeance is your friend. Hold it close and let it loose.

May the gods have mercy on those who have wronged me because I will have no mercy for them.

Here's another one by our own:

Breathe Me to Life by Abby Apathy

All my voices screaming,
what are they trying to say?
Nothing matters anymore,
I'm going to die today.

I'm shooting myself up
rushing poison through my veins
something ugly, withering
something sharpened by the pain

Everything is fading,
like the wings I used to have.
Everything is darkened now,
everything is sad.

…The filth of this motel room
blends in perfect with my eyes,
once alive and full of light,
now just full of lies.

I'm shoved into the corner,
shaking uncontrollably.
Pale and sweaty, cold to the touch,
this living corpse you see.

Banging from somewhere else.
Distant, pounding thuds.
Someone screaming out my name.
Someone I used to love.

…My whole body frozen, numb.
I can't move my head.
Someone sobbing distantly,
perhaps rueing that I'm dead.

What's is that your saying?
you want me to hold on?
You are so incredibly sorry,
you've missed me for so long.

You never should have left me?
you didn't mean to make my cry?
God, honey, just hold on,
don't give up, don't die?

You remind me of an angel
such a farmiliar face..
my vision's dimming, going dark,
I'm finally leaving this place...

I want to tell you one last thing
something important before I go:
it's not your fault I'm broken
I'm not the girl we used to know

it's not your fault I'm a monster,
addiced, wasted in my prime.
Find some kind of happiness
I think that it's my time.

Find someone to give you hope,
someone who'll make you happy.
You deserved so much better than me,
better than this filth you see.

So I'm leaving you now, love.
I wish you nothing but the best.
And then my broken, blackened heart
stopped beating in my chest.

Forgotten Language by Shel Silverstein

Once I spoke the language of the flowers,
Once I understood each word the caterpillar said,
Once I smiled in secret at the gossip of the starlings,
And shared a conversation with the housefly
in my bed.
Once I heard and answered all the questions
of the crickets,
And joined the crying of each falling dying
flake of snow,
Once I spoke the language of the flowers. . . .
How did it go?
How did it go?

Your Name

I wrote your name in the sky,
but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name in the sand,
but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name in my heart,
and forever it will stay.

A little more about me...

I spend half my time at a place called High School. Sorry to say these are not the best times of my life. Can't wait to get out. I go to the teen center or library to pass the time. You can say I am a regular. Love helping other people. It takes the attention away from me. Collect frogs. I take care of Dairy Queen, a toad and my 2 cats. Wish I had some snakes. Had to move across the U.S. I want to own my own business when older. Decided not to go into psychology because I have too many problems of my own. When I'm 18 I'm gone...
