Hey Poetry People!! I am new to this website and just getting adjusted to the system really. I guess you can consider me as a poetry lover but I'm really just a rookie when it comes to my poetry writing skills, but I'm working on it though. *\A Shade of black\*
\I am a young girl being demanded around because of my skin
But what's in the color, when all that matters is whats within
Being a slave due to the fact that I'm black isn't right
Sure I'm a shade of black....... the color of the night
Sure I'm a shade of black....... the color of a dark cloud
But no matter what any white man say I'm still proud
I'm no dummy, idiot or unworthy girl
I'm better than that and deserve more out of the world
I didn't choose to be in slavery but thats how my family live
They always tell me too stay calm and try to forgive
But how can I, when I'm just known as a shade of black
People don't just treat me equal like the way that I act
Is my skin color affecting them that bad
Is that the reason why you put my people down and make us feel sad
We don't deserve to be treated this way
It isn't my fault that I'm black and my color is forever to stay
Living happy..HA..I laugh at the thought of that
I'm hoping to give my people happiness by pulling a trick out of my hat
Soon, before I hit my death that will result to a long sleep in the sack
They will never mistreat or abuse a person......A SHADE OF BLACK\

\He's my life, my world, my everything
Only God knows what joy he brings
Who ever thought I could fall in love so hard
Especially with someone like an unexpected card
Only time will tell how long we'll be together
In my heart I'm hoping it'll last forever
No matter what people feel or think about us
All that matters is our love and trust
He's the special love in my life, my one and only
I'm blessed with him because together we're never lonely
