All these things that I say...
Sometimes i'm just [[dreaming out loud]]
As a person, I'm pretty normal. I'm a quiet sort of optimist. Music is my soul, and that's why I love poetry. Afterall, it's just a song without the notes. I don't believe in giving up, I do believe that everyone can get through with a little help.
As a poet, I'm not what one would call extraordinary. I let my heart write the words on the pages usually. That's where poetry should come from anyways. Some of my poems are prone to being dark. I'm not really a dark person though, I'm quite happy with myself and my life actually.
I value brevity in poetry. It seems that many poets (even myself) try to compensate for a lack of proper words by adding more meaningless ones, therefore lessening the power of their work. If there isn't a word in the dictionary for it already, then seldom are you going to write a satisfactory description of it. There are just so many facets to emotion, too many depths to be explained by a single poem.
My most favorite poems demonstrate hope through hardship, a good approach to life. I'm a sucker for those cute little romantic poems as well. I try to write them...but it never works out the way I wish it would. Love has always struck me as something diminished by explanation. It's something you feel. Anyways, that's about enough of my personal beleifs.
