Mountain WomanShow poetry

I have spent most of my life in the arts. Graduated from Rocky Mountain School of Art and Design for sign painting, billboard advertising and lettering. I painted billboards (when they were painted) in Denver, lettered semi trucks and painted signs for many years. In 2000, I started an Internet business and had three online stores. I sold my business in March, 2009, and now I write poetry, and am in the process of integrating poetry and the visual arts. I am happily married and have a 12 year old son.

My poems are short and different than most. I don't want to write poems that most people write about (love, loss, pain and long poems filled with all metaphor). I like to shake things up a bit. I like mystery, the unknown, and a connection of oneness with the world. I enter contests to get comments. I don't expect to win. I think most judges vote on poems they personally like and long poems with a lot of metaphor. I'm not sure I fit under that category. I use phrases that will last through time and come from within me, dreams and visions. I consider myself a visionary.
