I'm a vocalist/guitarist. I like just about any kind of music that either evokes thought or moves me. I don't dig when one band sounds like another. I like when a song/album makes me have to think to figure out what's going on in the music and who's singing/playing what and when. I have what I believe to be a mild form of musical OCD. When I hear a piece of music I feel the instant need to figure out exactly what's being played and what instruments/effects they're using. This is the reason I don't listen to alot of music that's being made today by new artists. Because most of it is too easy to figure out. I just end up thinking "four chord progression w/ drum fills in at the end of each frase, main tag/riff, sometimes a very brief solo, lyrics." If it's not more interesting than that, I just tune it out. This is not because I think the band/song is stupid or shallow, or what ever other words you can think of to describe an unsatisfactory sound. It just means that I'm bored and need more to think about than just your standard rock or metal formula hit song.

Ok This isn't a column, it's a story, but the "add story" link won't work so this'll just have to do. This story is from 1999 when i was eleven. My cousins and I were a pretty tight knit group. None of us were hunters... until this night. I wrote it in l

  • Lately, I've been undergoing a few changes to my wardrobe, but also my attitude. I've been taking trip after trip down memory lane and remembering why I started doing what I do. It was the rebellion. The statement that I am free of all of you and your standards. I'm starting to come back to that. I've been revisiting

  • As a few of you may know (actually, I have no idea how many of you know, I haven't been the best at staying in touch with all my old AP friends, but anyway) I'm in the process of making a low-budget solo acoustic album. I'm putting a bunch of my old songs (and a couple new ones) on it with narrations between each son

In your self-intro when you say "This is not because I think the band/song is stupid or shallow, or what ever other words you can think of to describe an unsatisfactory sound."

i think you're looking for the word- noneuphoric- meaning not of good sound or quality of music.

i would love to have a intelligent convo. with you sometime. I'm about to graduate in less than a month and i need some stimulating conversation. lol. -Thanks for the add-
