I made a lot of friends here on AP, and some very good acquaintances. I don't think I'll leave...though I have deleted a bunch of my works...the thing is, I do need a break from AP...so I will go for a little while...
I usually write freestyle. I have one rhyming poem (so far) on AP, but I don't think the style suits me. Oddly enough I do write songs (that rhyme), but they are very different from my poetry. I also wrote a terzanelle, and it rhymes, and it took forever to write! It was so difficult! I have also written 2 short stories called "Moonlight Grove" and "Angela". There's 4 more, but I like these ones the best. I love to read and play the piano...I recently acquired a violin, and I can play it (sort of, lol). I play football (soccer) in my spare time (except now my friend roofed my ball; grr).
I love reading books. I just live on them. Iris Johansen is one cool writer. I love her books. The guys are interesting, the girls are so so tough (which is very very cool) and the plot is always amazing! Read her books people! My favourite so far is "The Search" and "No One to Trust"
I love listening to Simon and Garfunkel (their lyrics are absolutely fantastic); my favourite song by them is "The Sound of Silence" (it's actually very poetic) followed by "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" (another poetic song). I have lyrics to The Sound of Silence and April Come She Will.
I also like Linkin Park, my favourite songs being "Numb" and "In the End". I know it's kind of weird, liking Simon and Garfunkel, and Linkin Park (not to mention Billy Joel and the Carpenters), but I do.
I am bilingual; actually you could say I'm trilingual. And that's not including French which we have to learn in school. It's fun to speak more than one language, as I'm sure other bilinguals/trilinguals would agree.
I have a few things that I hate. Absolutely detest. I hate people who give trophies to undeserving poems! It pisses me off no end. Another thing that I dislike as much as biased judging: stupid refs when we play soccer. (That's short for referee, not refugee, just to clarify.) I hate when people confuse "your" with "you're".
I also don't like most people. My parents call me anti-social as a joke, but it kinda is true. I only click with a few people. So far there's about 1 person in my inner circle, and about 4 in my slightly outer circle. Then there's a bunch of people I could care less for. This doesn't mean I'm mean to them or anything; I just don't hang around them too much. The ones I do hang around with though; they know almost everything about me.
Something weird that has happened lately: I seem to be loosening up, especially on this site. Maybe it's because I can't see your face, or don't know who you are completely...it's giving me the freedom to be myself, without worrying about after-effects. Pretty cool...
There's one thing I love. I love the name Michael. If you read the book 'Violet Eyes', you'll understand why. *stares off into space going "Michael..." without paying attention*
I'm 14, though my profile might sometimes say 18. Sometimes I like reading adult stories; when I'm the mood for something other than poetry or stories about teens.
~The Sound of Silence~
Hello darkness, my old friend,
I’ve come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left it’s seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
’neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one deared
Disturb the sound of silence.
Fools said i,you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out it’s warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whisper’d in the sounds of silence.
-Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
~April Come She Will~
April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain
May she will stay
Resting in my arms again
June she'll change her tune
In restless walks she'll prowl the night
July she will fly
And give no warning to her flight
August die she must
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold
September I remember
A love once new has now grown old...
-Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel
These are two of my favourite songs by Simon and Garfunkel. Their lyrics are terrific! It's like poetry put to music, really.
A hilarious conversation...that actually happened:
Attorney: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?
Witness: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.
Attorney: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
Witness: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
Attorney: And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time?
Witness: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy.
Attorney: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
Witness: No.
Attorney: Did you check for blood pressure?
Witness: No.
Attorney: Did you check for breathing?
Witness: No.
Attorney: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
Witness: No.
Attorney: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
Witness: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
Attorney: But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?
Witness: It is possible that he could have been alive and practising law somewhere.
-testimony from court records
Attorney: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
Witness: Yes.
Attorney: And what were you doing at that time?
-testimony from court records
Attorney: How far apart were the vehicles at the time of the collision?
-testimony from court records
Attorney: What did the tissue samples taken from the victim's vagina show?
Witness: There were traces of semen.
Attorney: Male semen?
Witness: That's the only kind I know of.
