MooneyShow poetry

I'm a 19 year old Australian guy (with a Middle East heritage) who lives in Sydney.

I study Psychology at the University of New South Wales, currently doing an Economics elective, which handily leads me to talking about my job! I work for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. THE bank (as Aussies who've seen the add on TV know). I'm a member of the Australian Labor Party and Amnesty International. Especially for someone religious, my political views are VERY liberal. I have a strong desire to protect Human Rights and Freedom, and a strong sense of social justice. I'm Catholic - and happy to be so. Not proud though because "pride goeth before a fall". I love proverbs.

So of my hobbies and interests include writing poetry (surprise, surprise), playing soccer and basketball, karate training, reading (in particular history and politics), learning languages (I speak three and I've just started learning a fourth), card games, chess, playing the flute/piano, singing in the shower, walking in the rain, listening to the sea, spending time with my friends at the movies or bowling or at soccer games or at a bar...

My favourite song is "Peace Train" by Cat Stevens:

Now I've been happy lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun
Now, I've been smiling lately
Dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be
Someday it's going to come

'Cause out on the edge of darkness
There rides a peace train
Peace train take this country
Come take me home again
Now I've been smiling lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun!

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Ooh-wah-ee-ah-ooh-ah
Come on peace train
Peace train holy roller
Everyone jump on the peace train!
Ooh-wah-ee-ah-ooh-ah
Come on peace train

Get your bags together
Go bring all your good friends, too
'Cause it's getting nearer
Soon it will be with you
Now come and join the living
It's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer
Soon it will all be true!

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Ooh-wah-ee-ah-ooh-ah
Come on peace train
Peace train!

Now I've been crying lately
Thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating?
Why can't we live in bliss?
'Cause out on the edge of darkness
There rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country
Come take me home again!

Peace train sounding louder
Ride on the peace train
Ooh-wah-ee-ah-ooh-ah
Come on peace train
Peace train holy roller
Everyone jump on the peace train!
Ooh-wah-ee-ah-ooh-ah
Come on, come on, come on!

Come on peace train
Yes, it's the peace train!

To finish off, I'm putting in the Lord's Prayer:
Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thine will be done,
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.

Peace be with you all!
