I used to write a lot of dark, emotional poetry when. I had been depressed for nine years, three of which I wrote. I recently got out of depression, and am very grateful for it. It was a very long and hard struggle that too many young people face. I had almost given up, many, many, times. But I am still here today. I may not be the happiest girl on earth, but I am not the same sad girl I once was.
Dark poetry is still in my liking, but many things have changed within it. Certain elements I cannot stand as it was something that had been with me throughout my depression. Another change, is the frequency and quality of it.
I always wanted to have an income through writing, but now I fear I won't be able to do so. Maybe not in poetry, anyway. I will get an English degree and see where I go from there. But never the less, I will still try to write poetry, even if it comes as a struggle now, instead of flowing like it once did.
