I have just recently started being more active in All Poetry and my poem writing.
I really am starting to love the power of freeverse and have started to break the habbit of rhyming. Sometime the itch to rhyme still pushes me, but I'm trying to teach myself it doesn't have to rhyme to be beautiful.
Because that, in essence is what poetry is, that is so hard to capture in a story. Given fewer words we manage to give the true element of meaning to those words, lost in most stories. Poems don't have to be about the beautiful to be beautiful. They just have to capture the soul of something, or some feeling. Without that, what is a poem?

So I wrote. I felt it fall out of me like I had opened a trapdoor inside myself. I had plenty to do yet I wanted to do none of it. I longed for one thing, a book, but found it out of my grasp. It was more than just a book, it was a story. I wouldn’t settle for any other, I wanted that one. Its words were beating insiJune 16, In Contemplation. 1,000 words. → 2 comments, Add one?
