MattfaceShow poetry

Hey, I'm Matt if you hadn't already guessed.

So this is my page, on which I'm going to try to explain me. Hard task. One web page to explain everything about me, my tastes, my life, my interests, my hates... and everything else.

So, let's start on a high note with things that I like. I like poetry (which, again, should be fairly obvious) and indie rock music.

That includes bands like the Foo Fighters and Muse, along with a bunch of British bands like the Kaiser Chiefs and Maximo Park which I've discovered that most people from other countries haven't heard of. I LOVE Paramore.

I've been learning guitar since about May 2008, and am now okay at it. I've got a band together, which is as yet unnamed. I can come up with LOADS of lyrics but writing the music is a lot harder for me. So far I've only written two good (in my opinion) songs, called Best You'll Never Have, and Enchantment.

What else do I like? Football. By that I mean what is known in Britain as football, and what is known in the States and Australia as 'soccer', although I hate that word. I also like absolutely ANYTHING that inspires me. That can be people, music, TV, books, or just something random in my life.

I've discovered recently that it's best to have a positive outlook, keep smiling, and don't listen too much to what other people say about you. Surround yourself with friends that support you and ditch the ones who don't. That's my only advice to anybody. The rest of your life is an empty notebook - fill it with something beautiful!

Of course, for there to be things I like, there also have to be things that I'm not so keen on. These include people who can't see past themselves and people who complain about small problems just to get attention.

I don't really have a problem with any religion or clique, just as long as you don't try to force it on me! I'm not religious, and I prefer to be my own person and not to be bound by the rules of a social group. However, Christians, emos, Muslims, punks, whatever - I have nothing against ANY of them.

If anybody takes the time to message me I try to message them back as soon as I can. I've met some amazing people on here. Here's a brief list (If I've missed anybody out, tell me ) : Keira, Lauren, JillithTerrestra, and Veronica. I won't have an AP family because you AREN'T my family - you're just amazing friends.

I try not to take anything too seriously, because it's not worth it. If you take things too seriously you ignore other important things, and are more upset if you fail. Why set yourself up for more disappointment? Doesn't seem worth it to me.

I don't claim to be good at solving other people's problems (I can't handle my own most of the time ) but if anybody has any you're welcome to ask what I think. Of course my opinion could be worth ZERO to you, but I'm happy to help anyway.

Some people think they're right all the time. I NEVER think I'm right. That way, I can be open to other people's opinions, plus I can be more suprised and happier when I actually AM right. See, it all works out!

Having studied Philosophy for nearly three years, and LIFE for nearly eighteen, I can offer the following tips on what -I- think makes for a happy life:

1. Take Calculated Risks - You can thank Keira for this one. Basically, whatever you're thinking about doing, ask yourself what's the worst that could happen, and what's the best that could happen. If the possible pros outweigh the possible cons, go for it!

2. Write a Journal - Every day, write a passage, however short, about what you did and how you feel. Not only will the happy times give you a pick-me-up when you're down, but the sad records will help you not to make the same mistakes again!

3. Two Targets a Day - Set yourself two targets each day. One, to do something that you can call an achievement. Two, to do something that makes you happy, however simple. You could even just buy a CD! You can't help but feel good with 730 things a year to feel good about!

4. Ignore Advice - Ignore your friends. Ignore your enemies. Ignore the advice I'm giving you on this page. It's YOUR life. Live it!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And with that, I will depart. Have a nice day.
