I recently turned 58 years old and is one who has lived a gentle and blessed life. I was born and raised in suburbia USA outside of Detroit, where I spent the first 18 years of my life, with an intact family.
I began writting poetry in my early teens, as a shy and introverted youth, who found this special means of self-expression and self-distinction in growing up as a twin.
As a twin, I was the more passive one, and my Brother Dennis was the more outgoing one. I describe my earlier years as being a Clark Kent without any hint of the Superman persona. I grew up in a Christian family, and was taken to church regularly beginning as a babe in arms, and for that I am most thankful to my parents.
After I graduated from high school, I began the second phase of my life with schooling in a christian college in Tennessee. At that time, while I majored in Bible, I was still too immature to really know what my talents and calling were, so life was more trial and error. I met in college LINDA, my first true Love, who became my Life companion of 34 years. We shared a life of moving several places like Arkansas, Kansas, Indiana and finally to Arkansas again, where we spent the bulk of our married life. During that time, I had worked as a minister, an orderly in a mental hospital, an oil-field roustabout, and a worker in a defense plant. Linda and I had a good, but childless life together, which ended June 15,2005, when she died due to complications after surgery and a long struggle for her to regain her cherished health. So ended the second chapter of my life, some of which I mirror and chronicled in my poetic writtings at www.piptalk.com under the screen name DELEEME (which is:
D.Lee[that's]me!). It seemed with the loss of my dear Wife, that Life was pretty much over, but God had something different in mind for me.
I am happy to tell you, that GOD can and does make use of the internetm just as the devil does. But when He does, some thing very great and wonderful results. As so it was, by His Divine Providence, God joined two needy souls, who both has lost their previous spouses by death, to initiate the Third Great Chapter of my life, LIFE WITH JANE! It all happened to naturally, so seamlessly--the answer to prayer, and fulfillment beyond my dreams, and yet, this is my present reality and joy.
My life so far has been a mixed bag of experiences, through which I have gained some, joy, some wisdom with age,some perspective and sense of well-being, and purpose.
Faith mixed with humor has served me well through the years. I am truly thankful that I have be so fortunate and blessed. I look forward to meeting and getting to know many of you here at ALLPOETRY,as I continue on this fantastic Journey of Life.
