Hi! Welcome to my Author page and thanks for stopping by!
"Nothing is less in our power than the heart
and far from commanding,
we are forced to obey it"
-- Jean Jaques Rousseau.
And so I do obey my heart...
I am a poet and English Literature, English Language and Communication Studies teacher. I am the dedicated lady of a wonderful man who I will marry someday soon. I was born on the Caribbean Island of Trinidad in May of 1982. I still live there and wouldn't change that for all the world. I live in a valley surrounded by the cool shade of hills that remind me always to climb. There is a river behind my house and a creek down the road where natural bamboo grows. At Christmas, I don't see snow. Instead, every year at that time, thousands of fireflies glow. I took the beauty I've seen all my life into myself.
My poetry is my cup running over.

The advice I'd give to anyone who asked for some, including writers (potential ones and present ones):
It is important to have an accurate measuring tape... It is because of the inaccurate ones that we allow ourselves to be measured by that we come up lacking.

Something I told one of my favourite poets a while ago... He kept it on his author page and I'm glad because I now have my own advice to follow!
Thanks Mark!
"Many of what we consider to be physical faults are simply the miles that show on our tires. My knees are blackened and probably will be forever simply because I have knelt before God in prayer a lot. I'm a little too plump by supermodel standards, but I don't mind . . . it's testimony that I'm a pretty good baker!"
-- Marissa A Scott.

Pro-Life
I am Pro-Life.
No situation... not sexual abuse, not poverty, not "bad timing", not "being young" and certainly not "it being my own body" are plausible excuses for killing a baby , born or unborn. They're all exceedingly selfish and LAME excuses! And, regardless of what any government or feminist society wants to shovel, having examined all the religious, moral and political sides of the arguement, I hold that abortion is one of the worst crimes, a crime against pure innocence. And it is robbing the world of a potential miracle. It is also wasteful and senseless.
Thank you to the University of the West Indies Life League (UWILL) for making a difference, for educating people about abortion and for standing firm in the fight against it and for continually speaking out against the culture of death. Thank you also to Trinidad's CCSJ for being a major fighter in the war against the culture of death in my country.
What is a word but a thought, if it is not spoken? What good is a thought to a baby slowly dying?
All life is precious, even the unexpected, "unprepared- for" life!
