MandikaShow poetry

I'm a spoken jazz interpreter. I say that because my inspiration, most of it comes from jazz, neo soul, and trip hop...largely jazz but my surroundings and upbringing also whisper to me the words they want to hear...I received my experience through the Spoken Truth groups where the best spoken word you've ever heard lives on "the Storm" it's Coming. When you find yourself chilling to a glass of wine are a cup of herbal tea please tune into "The Storm" at BlogTalkRadio: http://blogtalkradio.com/spokentruth with your host Truth Theory. 11:30 a.m. Saturdays at MIC CHECK (Is this thing on?). I know...shameless - smile.

I believe in giving my people props
You can me love or you not
Fo I call off this here list
I’m must go back to birth
Nobody had my back like she
Imma thank my Mama first

Intro

Well I met…
Tshombe
He said why don’t we
I said we shall we
He said we may
We became pals
In his throat vibrated and exalted
Ambience of black gals
Put us on the course we oughta
Tshombe created poetic voices
Poetic voices created me
Mandika Butterfly
Lawd this brotha is so deep
Ink spilling like myrrh over scrolls
Voice rich and decadent
Melted swiss, Dark Gable
Gumbo with black peas
Thunderous and booming like
A prophetic warning
If you listening to directions
A shot through the purest cyber air
You can hear his STORM
He da man to take u there

I want to thank Lovely Brown
Wanna thank Amina
Wanna thank Trigger
I really really need to
Thank you

If you think I may have missed
I love you, you know who you are
and last but not least
Need to thank Zamzamasaur

I wanna thank Jazzy Blue
I wanna thank MDiva
I wanna thank Omavi
I really really want to...
I wanna thank you

Outro

But then I met Gashaus
Meek like black Moses
but his music shouted
Call-eth unto me
I said shoot, started following
where he was leading
He played that nasty cut
Dirty dirty of the south
Reference to beats he putting out
Combination of this meeting
fused together “funky & sweet”
derivative of Mella Yella
Produced some other luscious treats
Sort of an alter-ego
Mixing south side sounds
Won’t leave me alone
Keeps my feet on the ground
Reminds me of where I’m from
Carry his vision inside out
This is what I’m talking bout
Project blossom under
Sweet potato cobbler tree
Take a trip hop journey
What my mind imagining

I always wanted to do this

MARQUEE

Magic of
Amazing poetry
Reachs from her
Quiet heart, it's
Unheard beauty
Embraces her soul and
Echos within her

Teach Me Tonite

Teach me tonight
Did you see that I've got a lot to learn?
Well don't think I'm trying not to learn,
Since this is the perfect spot to learn -
Oooh, teach me tonight!
Let's start with the ABC of it,
Roll right down to the XYZ of it
Help me solve the mystery of it,
Teach me tonight!
The sky's a blackboard high above you,
If a shooting star goes by,
I'll use that star, to write I love you,
A thousand times across the sky.
One thing isn't very clear my love,
Should the teacher stand so near my love?
Graduation's almost here my love,
Come on and teach me tonight.
I'll use that star to write I love you,
A thousand times across the sky,
One thing isn't very clear my love
Should the teacher stand so near my love,
Graduation's almost here my love,
Teach me......please teach me tonight!

Sung by Al Jarreau

Your presence resembles patients, strength & adversity Which only comes from learning to adapt, to the elements around you. As you endore life's endeavors, just by over coming the odds. No matter the weather, always standing tall reguardless of your short falls. Because who you are as a person, defines your true beauty like. ShadesofAutumnWings
in the fall!
