About Me:
Hi. My name is Amelia for those who are curious. I am 16, and I have an absolutely amazing boyfriend. I have been writing poetry for over 6 years now, and have won a few awards for my talents. My dreams are to become renowned for things I write, hopefully music, as I wish to sing most of all. I have a sister here on the site, Saknika, so when you're done here, go check her out. Although we're sisters, we differ greatly.
About my poetry:
My poetry is usually rather dark and sad, so I warn those who depress easily - DO NOT READ IT! For everyone else, I've been told my writings are very well done and facinating, especially for my age. I believe you will enjoy them. I don't use very large words that only an english major would know, but I also don't use chatspeak, sticky caps, or very small, uneducated words. A favorite read, and the first poem I put up on the site, is Remember Me. Like a few of my poems, it is named after a book I read. I do this quite often, when I have an urge to write and no inspiration. I take a book title, use it as my title, and write what I think of. For those of you with a Poet's Block, I urge you to try your hand at doing the same thing. Another good read is Sinking , but it is highly depressing and somewhat long. Thats it for my poetry, I beleive.
Other Useful Information:
Inspirations: I have a few inspirations. One I mentioned above. Book titles and titles of other things, like movies or even streets, are a great help. Also, if I see a set of words that just seem artistic, like my old name for example-Twisted Whispers-, I almost have to write a poem around it. I have to say, though, my biggest inspiration is life and school. I may seem like a really spiffy person**or maybe not **, but the school doesn't think I am. I have been bullied and picked on for everything and anything the kids can get on me. So, I take it out in my poetry. It doesn't do much, but I think what the little bit of writing does for some people is just enough to keep them going strong.
Interperitations: My poetry, alot of it at least, talks about commiting suicide, or even just dying. This does not mean I am a suicidal person. I've had quite a few people ask me about this, so I decided I might as well let you all know what it's about. I write those poems because I am a sad person at times. Other reasons would include that I want to show people just how horrible taking your own life, or letting yourself go is/can be. Not just what it does to you, but families, too(see SINKING). Foremost, though, it's because I have difficulty writing a poem that is happy. I was never really good at writing anything with joy in it. I always thought joyful poems sucked, and therefore, I thought my happily-inspired works were junk. So thats that.
Closing: I have nothing more to put in here right now. I just hope that everyone here has fun, and enjoys themselves. I love contests, so keep putitng them up. Lets see something challenging, ok?! Do something noone has ever done before, just for me ^.^

I find your bio very interesting... for one thing, you have taken the time to explain why you write dark or sad poetry most of the time, that gives insight into your personality. Just because someone writes that way, does not make them a sad or particularly dark person. I percieve that you are a very strong personality and live your life the best way to make you as an individual happy! That is a good thing, at least you have your writing as an avenue to get pent up emotions out, a way of expressing how you feel about something you have witnessed or have ideals about. You are also a thoughtful and loving, caring person, that shows from what you say about someone thinking of perhaps taking their own life... you remind those who would contemplate such a course to think of not just themselves, but of those who love and care for them, they are always the ones left behind to suffer the pain of the loss of their loved one. I feel for those who find themselves in a situation where they would think of trying to end their own life, it cannot be easy for anyone who would get so low in their personal life that they would consider doing that. However, having rabbitted on about all this, I take this opportunity of welcoming you to AP. I look forward to reading your work.
