"What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from."
-T.S. Eliot
By some amazing coincidence, you've stumbled across my page. Now that you're here, I'll do my best to keep you glued to the words you'll find.
I like to consider myself a full-time writer. I am a member of the Undergraduate Writer's Workshop at the University of Iowa, where my primary goal (aside from annoying the other members with my pretentious prose) is applying their criticism to my own work. Don't ask me what I 'write'. I can't give you a solid answer -- I'll write anything ranging from general fiction to psychedelic science fiction. My particular tastes are uncontrollably flimsy, which leads to a number of different literary iterations of my expressions.
My history as a writer began in late middle school, during which, in my free time, I began work on a novel. That particular novel, clocking in at an impressive one-hundred and thirty four thousand words, wasn't completed until my second year of secondary school. Granted, the novel was never published, but for a high school-er, I'll take whatever I deem as an accomplishment. Soon thereafter, I devoted myself to a sequel, but after writing eighty-thousand words worth of yammering, repetitive garbage, I ditched the project entirely, instead looking for other, more engaging works and literary journeys.
Listen to me toot my horn. I don't think of myself as a very accomplished or skilled writer. In simple point of fact, I'd call myself a pretty amateur scribe. To reconcile that, I try to write a thousand words a night and read two books a week. It seems tedious, yeah, but I think it helps.
So. After that -- and I'm exhausted just thinking about the self-conscious rambling I put you through, there -- let's get onto the topic of why you're here. If at all possible, read my work. I'm well aware of the fact that many of my submissions are lengthy and not so poem-y, but, if you're a true pal/reader/masochist, you'll indulge in them anyway. Hopefully, you will get some enjoyment from them, too.
Cheers. And maybe I'll see you around.
