I appreciated your comments on my poem and visited your page to view one of yours. The part that got me laughing was:

When I'm not writing, I'm drinking heavily and driving a school bus.

If you do them both at the same time may have more time for poetry.

    The times will change,
    And leaves will fall.

    The years will pass by,
    With amazed children stopping
    To pick up and gaze
    In open mouth wonder
At the diamonds and precious jewels
Left to them, by the seers
    Of years prior.

But one in particular will leave
    More than jewels and wealth,
But a view of how it used to be.

    His words of lore
    Will offer strength
    In the future
    From days of yore,
    And they could never
    Ask for more.

    Empires will come and go,
    Their accomplishments penned
In the pages of history by others,
    While this man’s legacy
    Will remain a guiding beacon
    Of light, for future kings.

    The times will change,
And yet more leaves will fall.

    Falling Leaves, by Brandon Spalletta

This is dedicated to my good friend and brother, Lowell Poe. Words can not express the friendship that he has shown or the inspiration he has given. He is a great man, and well deserving of this poem. Here's to you, Lowell.

    BLESSINGS LOWELL,
    BRANDON
