Lost In My ThoughtsShow poetry

I haven't been able to pick up the pen and scratch down my feelings on paper in a long time. The last drop of inspiration has dried up like a mirage. I am a complex person but many people don't stay long enough to see inside the rough exterior. If you have an ear I'll tell you my past, I'll tell you why I feel the way I do, but too many judge before they even hear what I'm about to say. If you read my poetry and can some how relate, I'm glad that I am somehow relate to you.

A LITTLE ABOUT MOI:
I am now a college freshman. There's been a lot of drama going on in my family which has caused a significant drop in my gpa. I've had a lot of problems in my past. I try to have fun, like singing, playing games, going to movies and hanging out with friends, but things still haunt me. It's like I feel guilty for ever trying to be happy because of all the pain I have going through me. It's hard to explain. It just feels like I can hardly get away from anything these days and no matter what I do or say I'm not good enough, like an old friend's poem (excerpt):

"Do you notice,
Recognize
The pain and the fear
And the tears in my eyes;
You think I'm inferior,
Think I'm below,
But you'll never see
And you'll never know.
of all of the pain,
 all of the tears,
all of the agony of
all of these years;
Not good enough
For even my friends,
And it never ends,
It never ends."
(Not Good Enough, By: Andy Harper

I'm not always a sad depressed person, this is just how i felt when i wrote this. I am currently engaged and to be married in October of 2010. I guess I was in a ranting mood.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird
that cannot fly

Hold Fast to dreams
for when dreams go
life is a barren field
frozen with snow.

-Langston Hughes

The best love
is the kind
that weakens the soul
and we reach for more
that plants a fire in our hearts
and brings peace
to the mind
and that's what you've given me
and that's what I hope to give you

-Walt Whitman-

"If"

If you can value truth above approval,
And friendship over beauty, wealth, or fame,
If you can share your gifts and talents wisely,
Leaving someone better off
Than when you came...

If you find happiness in simple pleasures
And see the rainbow, not the falling rain,
If you have faith to keep right on believing
In miracles that no one else can explain,
If you look until you see the good in others
And keep your spirit honest, true, and free,
Then you’ll be not just happy and successful,
But the woman you were meant to be.

If you could see
all the flowers in the world,
If you could hear
All the laughter in the universe,
If you could make
All the dreams
That ever were wished come true
Then you would know a little part
Of the joy of having and loving
A daughter like you.

-Emily Matthews-
